An old tattoo gone wrong.

its own way to be covered.

Scar cover-up. A long scar on the thigh → a branch of colour flowers.

Cover-up. Old lettering and a flower on the shoulder → a band of colour flowers.

How we cover

1. We don't rush to black it out.If the part to hide is small, solid black can work. If it's large, we look for another way, because blacking out a big area can easily ruin the parts that still look good.
2. Bigger and darker isn't always right.On a wrist or an ankle, or on someone who only has small tattoos, a big dark piece may not suit. The new tattoo has to suit you, not just hide the old one.
3. We draw by hand, on the old tattoo itself.For hard cases we draw by hand, so we can reuse the lighter areas of the old piece. That keeps the new tattoo from turning out heavy and black.
4. Divide, then cover.Ornamental patterns break the old tattoo into small sections that we cover one by one. Watercolour makes the piece softer and lighter.

The honest part, before we start

A reworked tattoo can't be as perfect as a fresh one. Our job is to bring it to a place that looks right and suits you, not to swap a bad tattoo for one that doesn't fit you.

With scars: tattooing over scar tissue hurts more than normal skin. A trace of the old scar may still show afterwards. We look at a photo of the scar first, then tell you how far we can take it.
